You will need to request some graphic files from your clients, including logos, and in some cases, photography. Here are some basic guidelines to follow when seeking out images, files, and graphics.

  1. Request high-resolution photos or images.
Client-provided images should always be high-quality. Typically, the larger the image, the better. High quality images help prevent the final graphic from looking pixelated or blurry. If the image looks too small on your monitor, then it is most likely too small for use on a graphic. If you aren’t sure about the size of the image, simply hover over the image and your computer will tell you the size and dimensions of the image. A high-resolution photo file will likely be around 1 MB or larger. Common file types for photos are .PNG and .JPG.

  2. Logo files are preferred in vectors.
Vectors are infinitely scalable. This means that no matter how big or small they are, they will always look crisp. Vectors include Ai, PDF, EPS, and SVG file types. If a client does not have a vector version of their logo, a high-resolution PNG (with a transparent background) is the next best thing.
